This brick was unearthed from the site of the original Saint Mary Church. Located in the current-day Basilica of Saint Mary Cemetery, the original brick chapel was torn down in 1839. Most of the chapel’s bricks were used to construct the pillars on the front of the Alexandria Lyceum Hall, on the corner of Prince and Washington Streets.
